There are so many people I’m grateful for this year. The list is long, but here are some I wanted to shout out to today. To my sons, who are my joy, my family and friends who have always picked up the phone and been there, no matter what they found on the other end of the line. To the authors who offered blurbs with a day’s notice and kept me going, @mdpatterson and @audible for Mad Love and good things to come, and to my incredible agent @dconaway99 - for going above and beyond in every possible way. The show must go on. And so it did last night at @darienlibrary where are we celebrated the latest installment of the Shana Merchant series by @tessawegert THE COLDEST CASE. We had a full house, including fellow @sincconnecticut author @elisehartkipness and local author @elisechidley Thank you @barrettbookstore_ for bringing all the merch! The Coldest Case is a fabulous locked room mystery in the Thousand Islands where eight people have chosen to overwinter. Atmospheric, clever, and emotionally adept, this is the perfect escape! I hope you pick it up at your favorite place to buy books🙏

I’ve been living in or visiting New York City for

I’ve been living in or visiting New York City for over 30 years. I never thought of it as a place to sit by the water with a friend or watch a sunset. But in my month living there again, that’s pretty much all I did. Biking, walking, in the afternoon and evening. I spent most of my free time along the Hudson River and watched over 20 sunsets! This is my new happy place. I am going to miss it deeply, but I’m so grateful that I know where to find it!

Apologies for the recent silence! Starting on October 1, I have been in the amazing city of New York staying in a small studio apartment in the West Village. It has been one year to this month that I began experiencing symptoms that would later be diagnosed as a spinal vertebrae dislocation. And that would lead to surgery this past summer. Hands-down, this has been the most challenging year of my life. Add to that, writing a new novel, and joining the Audible production team for Mad Love. Both were labors of love, executed at times under significant pain. I have learned how to write with dictation. Sitting on yoga blocks. Rotating ice packs and heating pads. Lots of tears and phone calls to friends. I came to New York for a change of scenery, to be closer to two of my children, and many friends. But also to walk outside and be part of a larger world. It’s impossible not to smile riding a bike along the Hudson River. 😊 I’ve taken many pictures and I will post them soon. Thanks to everyone who is still following my account after my absence these past few weeks! And a very special thanks to @dconaway99 @mdpatterson @jeankwokauthor @livconstantine2 for keeping the wheels on this car 🙏
